In a letter to the Department of Transport & Main Roads (DTMR), Member for Kawana Jarrod Bleijie MP has expressed his support for keeping open southbound exit 190 of the Bruce Highway. He has requested that DTMR further investigate the possibility of keeping this off ramp open.
“This off-ramp provides an access to not only businesses in the Aussie World precinct, but to other businesses long established, like the Palmview Strawberry Fields and other residences,” said Mr Bleijie .
The statement follows a public meeting where Mr Bleijie confirmed his support to save one of the off ramps at exit 190.
“I feel this off-ramp is very important to these businesses and I believe that this off-ramp could remain without impacting on the highway upgrade proceeding,” said Mr Bleijie.
The Save Exit 190 group welcomes the statement and would like to thank Mr Bleijie for his support. You can view the complete statement: click here.
A spokesman for the Save Exit 190 group Mike Doroshenko said, “we believe that the southbound on-ramp can also be included and redesigned in any future upgrade of the Bruce Highway, and that a better solution can be found for the northbound off ramp as well.”
The Save Exit 190 group was looking forward to today’s supporters rally being held at 1pm outside the Aussie World shops, and concerned residents and business owners are encouraged to attend. You can register for the event on Facebook.
