Information just received from The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR)
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is pleased to announce Fulton Hogan/Seymour Whyte Joint Venture and The Infrastructure Group have been shortlisted to submit proposals for the detailed design and construction of the Bruce Highway upgrade project from Caloundra Road to the Sunshine Motorway. This project milestone marks another significant step towards delivering a safer Bruce Highway.
These tenderers have been selected to progress to the next stage of the procurement process following strong representations from the private sector in response to the original expression of interest.
The assessment panel chose these groups based on their demonstrated capability and capacity to deliver a project of this complexity, and experience on similar infrastructure projects. Under the double Early Contractor Involvement process (dECI), Fulton Hogan/Seymour Whyte Joint Venture and The Infrastructure Group have until late March 2016 to prepare and then present their offer, with an award of contract expected in mid-2016.
Shortlisted proponents have been tasked with addressing key issues identified from extensive community engagement. Environmental factors remain a high priority, with the aim to reduce the impacts on the Beerwah State Forest to the greatest extent possible. Maintaining access to local businesses, particularly the Aussie World precinct, is also a key consideration, as is minimising impacts for the community and road users during construction, which is expected to start in late 2016.
While there are some restrictions on the information we can provide to the community in the coming months due to the competing nature of the dECI process, we will continue to liaise with stakeholders and provide updates where possible.
